_Recreational Facilitator__._ Reporting directly to the Manager, the individual is responsible for the development, implementation and review of inclusive leisure, recreation, and life-skill programs.

Core staff compliment will vary but on average the individual will be responsible for a maximum of 10-14 Summer Access staff and a compliment of casual Recreation Assistants at other times of the year.


This is full time, a 2-month term position.

Your Role

  • To work in partnership with the Program Manger, Recreation, Leisure and Accessible Sport in the development, delivery, and evaluation of current and future leisure and recreation programming.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of Children's Leisure and Recreation summer staff training.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Manitoba Possible/CDS Case Managers and families in the areas of leisure, recreation and lifeskills opportunities that are available through Manitoba Possible or the community at large.
  • Work in partnership with Program Manager, Recreation, Leisure and Accessible Sport during the development of the staff/consumer camp schedule.
  • Review and schedule visits with all new consumers who attend the Manitoba Possible summer program.
  • Evaluate and oversee Summer Access staff and casual Recreation Assistants.
  • Report all staffing issues to Program Manager, Recreation, Leisure and Accessible Sport.
  • Responsible for transporting all equipment to camp locations.
  • Promote community recreation opportunities.
  • Act as a consultant to community groups when requested.
  • Participate in committees and workshops that promote recreation.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Prepare and present to outside groups when requested.
  • Provide feedback regarding the development of new policies and procedures.
  • Assist Program Manager, Recreation, Leisure and Accessible Sport with Summer Access staff interviews when needed.

What You Know

  • University degree in Recreation Studies or related field. However, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Extensive knowledge of program planning in recreation with an emphasis on programming for individuals with disabilities.
  • 2 years of experience working with large, diverse groups and staff.
  • Ability to communicate using basic American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Ability to adapt to different environments and social settings quickly.
  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with MS Office.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to vehicle.
