***: Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for safety and quality of Freshstone Brands Inc. product by verifying compliance to HACCP, SQF, Quality and Food Safety Standards and specifications. Monitors production, sanitation effectiveness and microbiological analysis. Coordinates with other departments within organization.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Member of the SQF/HACCP Team, responsible for food safety and quality through the enforcement and promotion of Freshstone Brands Inc. SQF Program.
  • Develop, implement and update HACCP and SQF programs.
  • Initiate and coordinate HACCP Validation exercises.
  • Train plant personnel on requirements of HACCP and related programs in coordination with reviewing and monitoring deviations.
  • Monitor production floor activities including verification of CCP's and other inprocess documentation to ensure compliance with HACCP and SOP's.
  • Inspect incoming materials/records, inprocess procedures/flow, finished goods/packaging trouble shoot issues for raw materials and follow up with supplier. Issue supplier nonconformances, as required.
  • Record and interpret the testing results.
  • Conduct GMP and facility inspection audits to ensure compliance.
  • Work with outside lab for sample submissions, shelf life programs, and environmental testing.
  • Collect data and investigate customer complaints, create and analyse trend reports.
  • Maintain records of test logs, audits and other quality procedures to ensure availability of accurate information.
  • Assist product development when necessary. For example, microbiology sampling and retrieving documentation requested by CFIA Inspector.
  • Assist with customer complaints investigation and escalate where required, and implement corrective action where necessary.
  • Manage and ensure proper documentation for master cleaning schedule and other sanitation programs. Monitor sanitation schedule for weekly/monthly/quarterly sanitation requirements, follow up with sanitation crew to ensure completion, record and interpret results.
  • Collaborate and work closely with production, plant and sanitation departments.
  • Consistent oversight of production processes which affect the quality of product and update HACCP accordingly.
  • Participate in 3rd party (SQF, HACCP, and CFIA audits).
  • Perform other QA functions as directed by Corporate Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Performs or participate in the following monitoring task:
  • PRP and HACCP Program Reassessments
  • Pest Control
  • Mock Recalls
  • Record verification and CCP operator verification
  • Label Approval
  • QA Hold/Release

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or other related degree.
  • Strong understanding of GMP's, HACCP, SQF, WHMIS and CFIA regulations. Organizational ability to maintain a complex and high volume of technical information to update.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written), precision and quality minded. Conflict recognition, troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Knowledge of document management and computer software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Multi-Tasking: Strong ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate priorities. Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and effectively deal with ambiguous situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May on occasion be required to support other shifts (i.e. cover for vacation) AM/PM shift QA technicians

Combination of office environment (desk/computer work), and production environment (predominantly refrigerated areas but also kitchen area)

FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT


Working in compliance with FBI Food Safety and Quality Management system containing HACCP, GMPs, Food Safety policies and procedures that meet legal and regulatory requirements, customer requirements, audit requirements and industry best practices.

Provided with the food safety training necessary to enable them to perform their tasks.

All employees are required to co-operate with any authorized person to ensure that statutory and regulatory obligations are properly complied with.
