Champlain College Saint-Lambert is seeking the services of a CERTIFIED MAINTENANCE WORKER to work on a regular, full-time position for the Buildings & Equipment department.


Reporting to the Coordinator, Buildings & Equipment, the incumbent will perform general maintenance work (preventive and corrective) on installations and buildings including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling and other building systems.

In particular, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

  • Inspect and identify building and equipment's in need of repairs;
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs;
  • Receive service orders and complete them in a timely manner;
  • Perform basic plumbing maintenance and repairs;
  • Perform general repairs on walls, doors, windows, door handles, locksets, panels including painting, etc.;
  • Set up and arrange furniture for events and activities;
  • Collaborate with contractors when professional trades repairs are necessary;
  • Assure that the grounds are properly maintained;
  • Assist other workmen with their tasks;
  • Construct, restore and finish wooden furniture, cabinets and drapery tracks;
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.

Well versed in basic plumbing repairs

Competencies
Must be able to communicate in both English and French, oral and written.

Requirements:


To hold a valid journeyman competency certificate issued under the Act Respecting Labor Relations, Vocational Training and Workforce Management in the Construction Industry (R.S.Q., chapter R-20) and have two (2) years of pertinent experience in work related to several other trades.

OR

To hold a qualification certificate in plumbing, or in heating, in refrigeration system or in installation of gas piping or in electricity issued under the Act Respecting Workforce Vocational Training and Qualification (R.S.Q., chapter F-5, r.1) by the Ministre de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale and two (2) years of pertinent experience in work related to several other trades.

OR
To have a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty and three (3) years of pertinent experience.


Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m hours per week). May need to work after hours and weekends for emergencies and/or special events


Salary Scale: 25.63$
