What we seek**:


OCHC is currently seeking a dedicated Manager, Accounting Services to support with the delivery of accounts payable and accounts receivable services.

Under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting, the Manager will promote and assist with sound financial administration practices across the organization.

The manager will monitor, evaluate, and manage the operation of their unit including managing financial resources and supervising assigned staff.


Manager, Accounting Services with OCHC:

As the Manager of Accounting Services, you will play a key role in ensuring that we are able to bring this objective to reality.

As the Manager, Accounting Services, some of the things you will do include:

  • Manage corporate accounting functions and services, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, deposits, and journal entries
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to internal financial controls, including the accurate, complete and timely recording of accounting data, cash flow, and safeguarding of the cheque stock
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data, produce reports as required
  • Work with Payroll to ensure accurate, complete and timely remittance of required payroll deductions
  • Administer corporate and procurement credit cards
  • Oversee the preparation of documents for the third party collection of former tenant debt
  • Manage assigned budgets, monitor expenditures, ensure the timely validation and approval of expenses, and ensure costs are controlled
  • Provide leadership to the assigned staff
  • Manage human resources needs for the assigned area of responsibility, including hiring, termination, etc.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of contractors, consultants, and suppliers

What you bring:


Education & Experience:


  • University degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) is required
  • A minimum five (5) years' experience in accounting, including experiencing managing a team of staff and experience in preparation of financial statements for audit
  • Experience managing staff in a unionized environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial principles, practices, standards, systems, and rules
  • Knowledge of payables and vendor management practices
  • Extensive knowledge of operating budget, financial procedures and regulations
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and Canada Revenue Agency rules and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of debt collection practices
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and databases for financial tracking and analysis
  • Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other standard corporate software

Skills and abilities:


  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify errors and trends
  • Ability to report on financial activities and make presentations of financial materials
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify and implement ongoing business process improvement
  • Proficient in the use of information technology such as mobile devices and computer systems in the perf
