    Description

    We are working with a global leader (for close to 40 years) in the manufacturing and distribution of infection control, single use and preventive products for the medical, industrial, veterinary, laboratory, health & beauty markets with a dozen facilities in 3 continents (Europe, North America, Asia) and an established customer base in approximately 100 countries (including public and private healthcare, government agencies, etc.).

    Due to an upcoming retirement, the company is looking for a General Manager for their newly completed manufacturing and R&D/Innovation facility in Eastern Canada.

    The facility is up and running, producing products for internal and external customers.

    The company is offering a highly competitive base salary, bonus and benefits (which start immediately), including relocation (open to candidates from outside of Canada/US based and will assist with Visa requirements).

    This position will report to the Executive Chairman.

    Purpose of the Position:
    Plant Manager/General Manager that can run the new meltblown facility (Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR and Finance) and, eventually, take the lead of the innovation business (R&D, Innovation and Commercial)
    A resourceful leader who approaches strategic positioning through strong decision making, acting at the operational level, and supported through a strong technical and commercial mindset

    Key Responsibilities:

    The ideal candidate initially will:

    Run the new meltblown facility:
    manage and be responsible for all aspects of the plant: Quality, Production, Finance, and HR. Even though the plant has already been built and is up and running, will still need strong technical meltblown experience and someone that can lead a team
    Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with the management team to monitor progress and make adjustments accordingly
    Implement and develop a continuous improvement initiative, ensuring it is prioritized and resourced to achieve high operational excellence
    Promote the development of employees by implementing the necessary programs

    Step 2:

    Innovation General Manager:


    Conditional to the successful tenure of the Plant Manager / General Manager role, will then start a period of transition with the executive chairman as head of Innovation.


    In this function, the ideal candidate will:
    Engage, develop, and manage a high performing, multi-disciplinary team (Sales, Quality, R&D, on the top of the plant operations team: Production, HR, and finance)
    Promote the development of collaborative relationships within North America and more broadly within the Corporate Group
    Align activities and build strong consensus across functions: sales, production, finance, HR, quality, and R&D
    Drive the continuous development of new products to support future growth
    Ensure that the company is always in compliance and is seen as a quality focused organization, both internally and externally with authorities and customers

    This position requires a leader who is present, humble and accessible, who will be available to his or her teams and to internal contacts.

    The objective is to facilitate the rapid progress of objectives/projects, effectively resolving difficulties and tackling obstacles

    Year one critical success factors:
    Efficiently run the plant to meet quarterly/annual production targets set by management
    Empower existing teams and coach them to take on greater challenges within the plan
    Complete the set-up of the R&D laboratory to make it ISO17025 compliant within 3 years
    Build a trusting and productive relationship with the management team and the Executive Chairman
    Gain credibility with business unit leaders across the company and demonstrate an enthusiastic, positive attitude and desire to contribute to the success of the company
    Be seen as a leader and developer of talent who keeps the team motivated and engaged
    Develop an intimate understanding of the company's Innovation's market and develop a strategy to meet the group's objectives and maximize operational effectiveness

    Experience and Professional Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will be a meltblown expert with 15+ years of experience leading operations. Comfortable with the notion of operating in an entrepreneurial environment, this ideal candidate would have broad experience leading manufacturing. An experienced leader, the successful GM candidate will have a track record of success
    A collaborative approach is essential.

    Also required is inquisitiveness, self-confidence, ability to see the big picture, candor and courage, strong executive presence, and excellent written and verbal skills.

    This individual must be a strong developer of talent and genuinely enjoy mentoring others. The role requires the ability to influence executives and managers to meet objectives and surpass expectations
    Specific experience and competencies are as follows.

    The ideal candidate possesses the following qualities:
    15+ years of success in a leadership role and experience within the Meltblown industry or production environment
    Strong technical background in the Meltblown field
    Strong background and understanding of regulatory and quality requirements to keep Innovation in compliance with various government regulations in North America (especially in medical devices and PPE - Personal Protective Equipment)
    Proven managerial experience, supported by strong leadership and team motivation skills. They exhibit high impact combined with a low ego and are motivated above all by the progress of the company
    Act as a mentor to their team and behave in an exemplary manner
    Strong track record of improving business performance by setting goals and implementing KPIs to measure success
    Possess a proven skillset in continuous improvement deployment and good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
    Resourceful, creative and dynamic personality with an entrepreneurial spirit
    Capacity for strategic thinking and a "hands-on" managerial agility, allowing them to take over certain projects or activities when necessary
    Ability to communicate effectively in English (French or openness to learn French would be a plus)
    Demonstrates the highest professional and personal standards, unquestioned integrity and business ethics

    Education:
    An undergraduate degree in a related field is required
    An advanced degree such as MBA or Master's degree in a related field would be considered an asset
