Description

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Sustainability, the Project Coordinator, Sustainability Communications & Engagement is a significant contributor to shaping, inspiring, and informing a more sustainable culture and community mindset at Sheridan.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a sustainability communications and engagement plan that addresses how sustainability information, analysis, and insights will be shared with the Sheridan community while ensuring strategic and brand alignment throughout.

They will have day to day oversight of the Office for Sustainability's website and social media channels including development of digital content, and significantly contribute to the content development and design of sustainability reports/publications that benchmark and promote Sheridan's sustainability performance/leadership.

The Project Coordinator is also responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and evaluating a variety of programming/special events originating from the Office for Sustainability that aim to promote a sustainability-minded culture shift across Sheridan campuses.

They seek to create meaningful engagement opportunities that encourage and empower students, staff, and faculty to engage in more sustainable behaviors
- such as reducing energy and water usage, improving waste diversion and promoting circularity, protecting/enhancing biodiversity and ecosystems, and other activities that aim to reduce carbon emissions. The Project Coordinator also consults and collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability-related programming/events led by others and increase awareness and offerings available to the Sheridan community. Furthermore, the Project Coordinator provides leadership and mentorship for Office for Sustainability Co-Op students and students involved in Sheridan's Mission Zero Volunteer program, as well as helps to organize and support the work of cross-departmental employee volunteer groups and task forces such as the "Green Team" and the "Community Garden Committee."

What You'll be Doing

Planning, developing, and coordinating an annual schedule of college-wide sustainability engagement programming and events, informed by principles of behaviour change and the intersectionality between social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability;

Ensuring and/or executing appropriate promotion and communication of events, such as designing and/or coordinating promotional posters, registration forms, calendar invitations, etc.

Coordinating event logistics including securing venue space, set-up/break-down, presenters and guest speakers, attendee and/or volunteer registration, food services, etc.;
Recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers to support successful delivery of sustainability engagement programming and events;
Developing, maintaining, and refreshing Office for Sustainability communications and outreach materials in coordinated and brand consistent manner;
Developing/updating engaging content for the Mission Zero website and Office for Sustainability page of Sheridan Central (intranet) site;
Growing outreach and engagement on Mission Zero social media channels (e.g., building a social media calendar to ensure a steady stream of content is available)

Writing and/or editing talking points, scripts, or speeches for sustainability guest speakers or sustainability tours on campus;
Editing, proofreading, and approving student-developed content for print, web, and/or social media;
Supporting sustainability-related employee groups/task forces (e.g., Green Team) and providing guidance, direction, and training for student volunteers engaged in the Mission Zero Co-Curricular Recognition (CCR) Program as well as Office for Sustainability Co-Op students supporting Mission Zero initiatives;
Collaborating with Office for Sustainability leadership to develop and measure against sustainability communications and engagement plans, including defining goals, business case, implementation tactics/policies/procedures, assessment metrics and reporting activities;
Assisting with tracking and maintenance of metrics from across the college as required for internal and external sustainability reporting/benchmarking needs, such as the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE)'s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS);
Performing other related duties, as assigned.
