Description
NEC Native Education College is a large private Indigenous college in Vancouver and works with First Nations and
Indigenous organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. NEC works to strengthen
Indigenous communities through accredited programs that lead to employment and higher learning. We are seeking a
Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. At NEC we are grounded in our Longhouse values of Diversity, Respects, Gratitude,


Position Summary:

The Dean of Curriculum and Instruction will lead the curriculum design and instructional practice in alignment with the
college's Longhouse Values, mission, vision, and strategic plan. The successful person will manage efficient and effective
curriculum development processes. Reporting to the VP of Academics, contributes to the management of NEC's academic
departments.


Main Responsibilities:

Design and implement assessment strategies for learning, as learning and of learning that effectively measure
student progress and knowledge from an Indigenous worldview.

Promote excellence in the field of curriculum design with focus on Indigenous pedagogy.

Sets the direction for the instructional framework and pedagogical approach to the NEC's academic programs while
working collaboratively with instructors, staff, and management team.

Ensure teachers can differentiate instruction and empower all students to be self-directed, independent critical
thinkers and learners.

Build the capacity of educators to implement inclusive and trauma-informed practices that meet the needs of all
students.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree (Ph.
D. preferred) in a related field (e.g., adult education, higher education, administration) from an
accredited institution and at least three years of curriculum development or instructional design experience in a post
- secondary setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent organizational, project management, writing, editing, and planning skills.

Commitment to quality in education and the ability to manage continuous improvement from concept to reality.

Willingness to learn and understand the traditional laws and protocols of the Host Nations.

Understanding of Indigenous adult education methodologies and practices.
