Position Summary

This role is responsible for carrying out all assigned nutritional care duties in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures. The goal is to ensure every resident receives high-quality support and services tailored to their individual needs and preferences, with a strong commitment to excellence in customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review menus and prepare meals, snacks, special dietary supplements, and catered items according to menu guidelines, standardized recipes, and production sheets.
  • Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and strictly follow temperature monitoring and documentation requirements.
  • Prepare food according to the therapeutic diets and texture modifications outlined in residents' care plans.
  • Assist residents as needed while upholding their rights and dignity in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen after meals, including cooking areas, dishes, pots, pans, and equipment.
  • Store food promptly and properly in compliance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act, the Retirement Homes Act, and related regulations.
  • Communicate relevant information about residents' needs and care to appropriate staff members.
  • Place food orders in the absence of the Chef.
  • Complete and submit requisitions for food, supplies, and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Perform Dietary Aide duties when necessary.
  • Maintain required continuing education and certifications.
  • Demonstrate respect for residents' privacy, dignity, and individuality at all times, adhering to confidentiality policies.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Be available to work weekends as required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Previous experience in food service and working with seniors is considered an asset.
  • Strong customer service skills with a compassionate and respectful approach.
