    Reporting to the Sr Manager, Environmental Footprint, this position will manage the process of developing and reporting environmental footprint metrics and information with a focus on water and global retail. The process includes the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of data, calculation of environmental metrics, development and maintenance of process documentation, and support of internal/external audits. This position will also manage and implement the environmental footprint data and systems improvement plan through collaboration with the Environmental Management team, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations, ESG Compliance, Information Technology, subject matter experts and sites across Nutrien.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts at sites and in multiple functional areas to collect, consolidate and analyze data to develop environmental metrics for internal and external use.
  • Develop and perform data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop content and provide support for external disclosures including Nutrien's Annual Report and Annual Sustainability Report, and third-party frameworks like CDP (formerly Climate Disclosure Project).
  • Collaborate with ESG Compliance and Internal Audit to develop and document processes and controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and repeatability, and enable external certification/assurance.
  • Support internal and external audit of environmental processes, procedures, systems, data, and metrics.
  • Develop and manage the environmental footprint data and systems improvement plan through collaboration with the Environmental Footprint team, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations, ESG Compliance, Information Technology, subject matter experts, and operations across Nutrien.
  • Develop and maintain corporate knowledge of environmental footprint reporting regulations, industry guidelines, and independent reporting frameworks to enable compliance and strategic communication.
  • Develop and maintain environmental performance dashboards and benchmarks.
  • Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering, science, and/or accounting.
  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Skills

  • Strong collaboration skills (at various levels, both internal and external).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively work with large data sets from multiple sources.
  • Ability to understand and interpret reporting needs to identify data requirements, develop and work through complex calculations, and be able to successfully communicate this to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of environmental data quality metrics, regulatory environmental reporting, and emissions quantifications [e.g., Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP), National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)].
  • Knowledge of ESG accounting, regulations, and reporting frameworks [e.g., GHG protocol, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and CDP].
  • Knowledge of industrial chemical manufacturing processes (Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash).
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams (P&ID, PFD).
  • Ability to develop mass balances to support metric development and product Life Cycle Analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite (including advanced Excel skills).
  • Experience with data management systems and/or tools (SAP, HANA, Microsoft Power Query).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
