We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to assume the position of Network Administrator with the Corporate Services Department.

    Under the general direction of the Manager, Information Technology, the incumbent is responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including server, network, and security devices, monitoring network performance, IT system operations and storage utilization, as well as planning for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth. Serving as a technical expert in the area of network and system administration for complex systems requires an understanding of multi-office network infrastructure, in addition to an in-depth understanding of storage monitoring, provisioning, configuration and patching management of the storage enterprise. This position also requires a comprehensive understanding of VMware technologies, including vSphere/ESX and vCenter

    The position requires advanced knowledge in evaluating internal and external environment for threats related to Information Security and perform the role as Information Security subject matter expert to ensure they are properly addressed and controlled in a complex network environment. An intermediate knowledge of security operations, incident analysis, incident handling, and vulnerability management or testing, system patching, log analysis, intrusion detection, or firewall administration. You will be required to conduct studies that evaluate, recommend, and implement security solutions to enhance core security capabilities in the areas of security infrastructure, access management, networking, databases, servers, and Microsoft SQL.

    The incumbent must possess demonstrated experience in networking and distributed computing environment concepts, as well as a sound understanding of the principles of routing, firewalls, and client/server applications. Experience in monitoring and administrating host-based intrusion detection systems as well as experience with network security assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Nmap, Wireshark). Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution principles, methodologies and techniques as well a strong desire to learn new technologies is a must. The work also requires excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills along with project management best practices and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A post-secondary degree in computer technology or comparable experience in a technical support capacity is required. The incumbent should have a minimum of five years of experience implementing, supporting, and maintaining critical systems in a multi-platform environment in a mid-sized organization and possess current industry certifications in technologies relevant to the City's infrastructure.

    The salary range is $106,067 - $132,584, with an additional $5,400.00 annually for Housing and Vacation Travel Allowances, and a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan.
