Job Description:

Length: 4 months (Fall September to December 2024)

This role requires 5 years of Canadian residency history due to the additional RCMP clearance/background check needed for this role. Exceptions will not be possible.

Join a team that is transforming data and analytics at Sun Life Financial (SLF) Canada. The Client Experience Office (CXO) is an important pillar of Sun Life's corporate strategy. As part of the Data Enablement team within CXO you will play a crucial role in assembling necessary data products that enable our analytics and data science practitioners across Sun Life.

What will you do?

• Work as part of a team of Data Engineers, Business Analysts and Testers creating a new data platform using AWS and other exciting technologies
• Work with the analytics team to build data payloads to support statistical modeling exercises
• Using Python and SQL, transform data into data structures that can support research across Sunlife
• Perform data analysis to support advanced querying
• Help with data modeling experiments, capture results and interpret findings using test data
• Create automated test cases to ensure that the data is built correctly

What do you need to succeed?

• Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS experiences if possible)
• Understanding of programing languages like Python, Spark, Pandas, etc. that build dataflows
• Understanding data models (ex. Crow's feet notation in schemas and UMLs)
• Good understanding for SQL and data transformation
• Proven balance of analytical and creative problem-solving skills
• Good working knowledge of presentation software such as PowerPoint
• Ability to think with agility in meeting business partners' demanding deadlines

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.

Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance
