OCISO is the host agency for Refugee 613, providing legal, finance and administrative services and oversight.


About Refugee 613

Position Summary


Refugee 613 is looking for a talented communicator and relationship-builder to help us with the Newcomer Info Hub project, a suite of digital services focused on increasing access to valuable settlement and health information.

The
Community Outreach Coordinator will facilitate the project's engagement and community-building activities, and support the project'sknowledge generation and mobilization activities such as developing communications training, guides and other resources.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will also lead the outreach and partner support for the Afghan Digital Service, a pilot project of the Newcomer Info Hub.


This includes:

maintaining existing relationships with service provider organizations across Canada and building new ones to facilitate referrals and information flow; assisting the project team in connecting group members to services in their communities; supporting documentation and data collection for reporting to the funder; and promoting the service to organizations and networks.

This is a crucial role to support the Refugee 613 team in fulfilling its overall mission to improve the integration of refugees and newcomers in Canada.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Lead stakeholder management and outreach activities of the Newcomer Info Hub, including developing formal and informal partnerships with settlement service providers and others supporting newcomers across Canada
  • Identify and explore new sources of information resources relevant to newcomers
  • Support the Refugee 613 team's related content production and promotion
  • Provide research and analysis related to key topics in settlement and health
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to external audiences
  • Support project planning and evaluation activities through data collection and tracking
  • Provide support for the daytoday activities of the project as needed
  • Represent Refugee 613 in committees, workshops, webinars and conferences as approved by the director
  • Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO's culture of respect approach
  • Other task and duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary degree from a recognized university or a college diploma, or equivalent practical experience in a professional setting
  • At least one year of professional experience in a communications, outreach or stakeholder management role
  • Knowledgeable about Canadian settlement and integration services and policies: you are familiar with the settlement sector, different refugee and immigration streams, eligibilities and services
  • Excellent listening skills: you know how to identify what your audience needs and respond with empathy
  • Experience building communities: you are warm and welcoming, while also strategic and organized
  • Experience working with people from highly diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds: you have worked or volunteered with refugees or other newcomers in the past
  • Proven ability to make complex topics easy to understand through clear writing and use of plain language
  • Highly organized and selfmotivated: you can demonstrate how you manage your workload and prioritize tasks
  • Experience managing projects according to a defined schedule and deliverables
  • Ability to work with a small, passionate team in a sensitive, respectful manner
  • Excellent verbal and written English and French are both mandatory for this position
  • Proficiency in a third language is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with the full MS Office Suite, project management software (eg Asana) and databases.

Desirable

  • Additional languages, in particular Dari or Pashto, are considered strong assets.
  • Ability to thrive working in an openspace environment, remotely, or a hybrid model.




NOTE:
This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, with a possibility of remote work within Ottawa only.


Salary & Benefits:
$56,420 - $60,606 annua
