School Principal

OVERVIEW

The Principal is accountable to the Executive Director and works closely with the Administrative and Management team to uphold the Ministry of Education and Waldorf requirements for ensuring excellence in Education at Nelson Waldorf School.

The Principal will work closely with teachers to ensure the Nelson Waldorf School Curriculum meets or exceeds Ministry and AWSNA recommendations and requirements.

The Principal will be a mentor to all Teachers and encourage their professional development through Professional Development and Training and thoughtful evaluations.

The Principal is the primary contact to the Ministry of Education and along with the Executive Director is responsible to ensure compliance with Ministry of Education requirements to maintain our Independent School qualifications.

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

The Principal has the authority to act on behalf of the School in specific cases in accordance with the Decision Matrix and is a collaborative member of the Management and Administration Teams.

Active TRB Certification

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a certified Teacher with the Ministry of Education either Waldorf or Unrestricted
Must have at least 5 yrs experience teaching in a Waldorf School
Must have a positive attitude towards both Waldorf and Ministry of Education curriculum, regulatory requirements and expectations

Salary:
$75,000.00 Benefits: Full Benefit Plan (health, disability, life insurance and tuition)

Holidays:
School Scheduled Holidays, minus summer break, which then goes to a reduced schedule.

The Nelson Waldorf School is situated on 35 acres of mountain splendour which contributes to a healthy rural atmosphere, although we are located only a five-minute drive from Nelson.

Established in 1982, the Nelson Waldorf School offers school programs from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Our faculty is experienced and committed to working out of anthroposophy and the ideals of Waldorf education.
