John Ross & Sons Ltd., the largest scrap metal recycling facility in Atlantic Canada, is currently looking for a
Fleet Assistant to join their team at their Halifax location.


Job Duties
Managing PO's, tracking GPS, managing driver trainings, updating license and credential expiry dates. Must be able to juggle different requests to develop priorities.


Essential Responsibilities;

  • Manage GPS daily and track driver efficiency.
  • Manage and organize all PO's.
  • Assist Fleet Manager with tracking driver trainings to ensure up to date.
  • Assist in incident investigations when needed.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records as needed to properly. track and maintain vehicle maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure drivers complete and submit Daily Pre-Trip Inspection reports.
  • Actively promote safety programs and procedures that follow company and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 7am5pm; Saturdays 7am12pm/On Call

Education and Experience

  • Background in NSC (National Safety Code) preferable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 25 years of experience in a transportation safety role.
  • Must be able to operate computer, cellphone and twoway radio.
  • Familiarity with DOT standards.
  • Administration and strong organizational skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
