Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) has an exciting opportunity in which you get to work within the Residential Services team to ensure a strong, innovative support system is in place for women and children impacted by gender-based violence in Northumberland County.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Oversee successful operation of the shelter on a daily basis
  • Oversee the coordination of client case management and service planning
  • Plan, coordinate and review schedules, to ensure adequate staffing levels for each shift
  • Review client files and provide guidance to staff to ensure a standard of quality is achieved
  • Support the Manager of Residential Services in ensuring that all services are delivered in accordance with established best practice approaches
  • Provide guidance and mentorship for Residential Counsellors, including relief staff
  • Coordinate and facilitate orientation and onboarding of new staff
  • Provide ongoing training and support to new staff
  • Provide leadership and motivation to staff to encourage excellence within the Residential Services programs
  • Collaborate with community service providers to ensure cooperation and effective services within Cornerstone
  • Represent the agency on relevant community committees
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Residential Services and other members of the management team as needed in a positive and effective manner
  • Assume after hours oncall duties on a rotational basis
  • Advise the Manager of Residential Services of all program risks or potential risks in a prompt and timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Residential Services
  • Ensure that work performance and behaviour is compliant with the Ontario Health & Safety Act

What do I need for this role?

  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Indepth understanding of issues related to family violence
  • Strong crisis intervention skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of issues related to family violence, including a strong understanding of the links between violence, trauma, addictions and mental health, and homelessness
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • The Comprehensive Continuous Integrated Systems of Care model of service provision
  • Harm Reduction
  • Family and Intimate Partner Violence within a gendered lens
  • Trauma informed
  • Leadership ability to motivate staff to excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities while ensuring deadlines are met
  • Familiar with community resources and how they can assist Cornerstone in its work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to promote trust and confidence
  • Ability to effectively intervene and resolve conflict situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and decision making skills
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills and sound judgment
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification
