Position Overview:


Responsible to the ILS/LSA Engineering Manager for delegated areas of supervisory, leadership and technical activities in support of the CP140 Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) program, including the direct supervision of Reliability / Safety Engineers and Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) Analysts within the LSA Engineering department.

The position will supervise and mentor engineering staff; and review Engineering Reports (ERs) and Technical Memorandums (TMs) created for LSA Engineering OWSS customers.

The position will (i) manage ILS/LSA Service Requests (SRQ), Requests for Engineering Services (RES) and Fast Track workflow; (ii) manage designated projects, as required; and (iii) liaise with Asset Management Specialists (AMS) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) staff within IMP to ensure optimal technical outcomes.

The ILS/LSA Engineering Sueprvisor will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.


What You Will Do:


  • Shall include but not be limited to the following:
  • Provide supervision, technical guidance and oversight, and leadership to assigned LSA Engineering staff;
  • Prepare and/or review engineering data and documents produced by the LSA department, which may include but not be limited to SRQs, RESs, ERs, TMs, and Work Instructions;
  • Ensure the technical output delivered by assigned LSA Engineering staff demonstrate compliance to all Technical Airworthiness and Contractual requirements;
  • Conduct effective communications and liaison on technical matters with representatives from AMS, SCM, Aircraft Engineering (AE), Main Operating Bases (MOBs), Department National Defence (DND), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs);
  • Manage and coordinate OWSS support activities and work loading of the LSA Engineering team;
  • Assist in recruitment, development and performance evaluation of assigned LSA Engineering staff;
  • Develop and conduct LSA program elements in support of aircraft maintenance and engineering activities for the CP140, and other programs as required;
  • Supervise the maintenance of the CP140 Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR) database, and other IMP Aerospace & Defence programs, as required;
  • Support the LSA Manager in the development and support of all Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety (RAMS) analyses to fully support CP140 OWSS program requirements;
  • Support the LSA Manager in the development and maintenance of aircraft reliability programs in support of Life Cycle Management requirements;
  • Provide logistics engineering inputs for the processing of Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) for specific ILS/LSA tasks, in accordance with accepted Configuration Management procedures and standards; and
  • Assist the LSA Manager with the development, management, and maintenance of project budgets and schedules associated with project work.

What You Will Bring:


  • B.Eng. or B.Sc. (Eng.), or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Five (5) years of experience in ILS/LSA, Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering, with training in Reliability Engineering, Logistics Engineering or Systems Engineering;
  • Proven knowledge of applicable military standards and specifications, e.g., MIL-PRF49506, MIL-STD1388, and MIL-STD973 as they pertain to the aerospace industry;
  • Previous experience in a military aircraft engineering environment is an asset;
  • Minimum of two years supervisory skills is desirable;
  • Prior technical and personnel management experience is an asset;
  • Proven knowledge of aircraft systems and airworthiness/safety issues;
  • Understanding of the DND infrastructure;
  • Ability to identify and correct potential problem areas related to maintenance, logistics and safety by having a handson approach to problem solving;
  • Must be an analytical thinker with careful consideration for detail and accuracy;
  • Must possess strong communication and technical writing skills;
  • Strong computer skills within Microsoft Office (including high level of proficiency using Excel and Access);
  • Must be able to delegate authority, implement policies and coordinate activities of personnel;
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization, as well as outside agencies including DND and Subcontractors;
  • Possess selfdiscipline and selfmotivation skills, and will be able to impart enthusiasm to personnel;
