***Reporting to the Supervisor-Technical Services, the Service Technician - Instrumentation/Electrical is responsible for maintenance of the pipeline system in the region from Nanticoke to Kingston. This role is responsible for installation and maintenance of electrical, control, measurement, and communication systems; maintenance of supporting procedure and documentation systems; emergency first response to support the safe and reliable operation of the pipeline.

This position performs in accordance with the TNPI Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS), Safety, Environment, and Regulatory requirements.

**This position is a safety sensitive and a risk sensitive position and requires you to be fit for duty at all times.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates visible safety leadership in inspection, identification, and response to daily operational issues.
  • Pipeline facility maintenance including inspection and repair of facilities. Determine and initiate adjustments or repairs as required.
  • Maintain low and medium voltage electrical and process control equipment.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance tasks to be completed on scheduled time and on budget
  • Coordinate and initiate third party support for electrical maintenance services
  • Respond to break down / shut down issues in a safe and efficient manner
  • Identify and diagnose electrical and control issues or trends in equipment failure to maximize pipeline reliability
  • Review and revise facility drawings for accuracy, review and revise support documentation, manuals, and procedures under the guidance of the Risk Assessment and Management of Change (MOC) systems to ensure safety, compliance, and consistency.
  • Recommend and install equipment under the guidance of Risk Assessment, Management of Change (MOC) systems and the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Program automation equipment for process control and maintenance improvement.
  • Oncall support for daily operations, right of way management and emergency response.
  • Support projects for process and equipment improvement
  • Ensure technical and professional training is up to date

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) Certificate of Qualification or equivalent. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold an Industrial Electrician (442A) or Electrician
  • Construction and Maintenance (309A) C of Q
  • 45 years related work experience as a field services or pipeline technician.
  • PLC programming (programmable logic controller) and troubleshooting
  • Incident Command System (ICS) level 100
  • High voltage maintenance practices
  • Valid Ontario driver's license in good standing
  • Able to handle elevated risk situations
  • Possesses high attention to detail, including accuracy and completeness
  • Demonstrates safety leadership
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong listening skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Familiar with MS Office tools

WORK CONDITION

  • Position is based at Elmbank Road, Mississauga, ON.
  • Travel to pipeline facilities and site offices will be required via company service vehicle
  • Field position is exposed to outdoor temperatures and conditions
