Position Summary:


Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst is accountable for supporting Plant Management through analysis of all operational results for two plants - Mississauga and North York.

The individual will ensure high accuracy of all operational and financial reporting related to plant performance and the month-end close process, including insightful and timely analysis, with action-oriented variance reporting, and overall leading-edge financial support.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Set up new item masters and maintain accurate costing for all Raw Materials, Dry Goods, WIP and Finished Goods, including BOMs, routings, labour rates and intercompany pricing.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports including, but not limited to yields, labour efficiency, utilities, expenses, and capital spend, partnering with Plant Management to identify opportunities for improvement. Prepare, review, and distribute monthly Operational reporting packages.
  • Reconcile and analyze all manufacturing and purchase price variances. Report on the impact these variances have on financial performance and make recommendations which reflect standard business practices resulting from this analysis.
  • Manage the capital expenditure process ensuring accurate project tracking and timely capitalization.
  • Prepare applicable journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations as required.
  • Support physical inventory counts, interim and yearend financial audits as required.

Requirements:


  • University Degree or College Diploma with minimum five three of accounting, analysis, and financial reporting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Completion or in the final stages of an accounting designation program (CPA)
  • Strong analytical skills and proficient in MS Office with advanced knowledge of excel.
  • Working knowledge of financial/operational ERP systems (AS400 considered an asset).
