Job Description:


Accountabilities:

  • Compensation administration and consulting
  • Supports the development of the overall Total Rewards philosophy aligned with Osler's values, vision, and business objectives
  • Consults with internal business partners, including department heads and management to assess, develop and implement total rewards programs
  • Responsible for the design of total rewards strategies and programs that align with business objectives and support business success
  • Develops and maintains the compensation programs for the organization including any applicable legislation requirements
  • Develops, recommends and implements creative and cost effective new or modified total reward plans and policies that provide a competitive employee value proposition in a fiscally sound manner
  • Ensures effective tools are in place to manage Total Rewards planning and administration, including vendor selection and management protocols
  • Supports the Director in the development of content and materials the for the Human Resources and Governance Committee of our Board of Directors
  • Oversees the administration of all plans, proposes changes, and ensures regulatory compliance
  • Leads, coaches, manages and develops the Total Rewards team to deliver on objectives
  • Provides counsel to direct reports, Leaders, and other HR colleagues regarding total rewards solutions
  • Ensures all plans and processes comply with applicable internal and external regulations and requirements, including reporting and required disclosure
  • Ensures and oversees the audit of total rewards programs
  • Stays abreast of and determines compliance with legal requirements and analyzes, and recommends compliance actions for new and evolving legislation
  • Benefits administration and planning
  • Responsible for Program Design, Communications and Cost Management
  • Leads the design and delivery of comprehensive benefits programs that meet business objectives
  • Manages vendor relationships and negotiates with insurance companies, thirdparty administrators, and consultants to ensure they deliver highquality service and comply with contract terms and conditions
  • Manages the annual renewal processes, including analysis and business case development
  • Develops and delivers comprehensive communication materials for new and existing benefit programs with the employee experience in mind
  • Improves the benefits administration process, including the creation of relevant SOPs and SLAs
  • Liaises with external vendors (HOOPP, Sun Life, Manulife) to ensure employees are provided with the most up to date information regarding their benefit coverage and entitlements
  • Provides advice in resolution of benefit inquiries, grievances and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures and applicable legislation for various employee groups (ONA, CUPE, Teamsters, OPSEU and nonunion employee groups)
  • Works with vendors, plan administrators and consultants to investigate discrepancies and provide information in complex situations
  • Monitors benefit trends and stays abreast of applicable benefits legislation; analyzes, and interprets statutory requirements governing benefits plans
  • Staffing and management
  • Recruits and trains new staff for the team
  • Actively participates in meetings with team members to manage departmental operations
  • Provides support to and development plans for staff members
  • Manages schedules and timekeeping for staff
  • Sets objectives, assesses performance, and measures results of the team

  • Works on various corporate and divisional teams both as a participant and as a lead
