Barr Homes is a fast-growing Residential and Mid Rise Apartment Construction company.We are looking to add to our Team a Project Manager/ Estimator
Hours of work:
Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 Pm
Key Accountabilities:
- Overall support, direction, and management of the construction portion of a project. This may include Construction Concepts, Constructability, resource planning, Construction Technical Specifications, Mechanical Completion Engineering, Subcontract development, Construction Management from cradle to grave of all project and other items as required.
- Lead the entire estimation process for Mid Rise Construction projects
- Main focus will be on the Mid and High Rise Construction projects
- Involvement in the estimating stage of a project to ensure that the required costs are covered.
- Continually Monitor Schedule, Scope, Budget and Risk items on Construction projects
- Participate in the Kickoff meeting to review and agree on the respective Scope of Work, special requirements, schedule, and budget.
- Utilize Construction management methodologies, system and tools as defined by Company.
- Gather Project Specific Documents as required and develop a complete bid package for subcontractors.
- Develop the Scope of Services for a Construction bid package, based on available Engineering documents, material takeoffs, etc.
- Research availability and qualifications of subcontractors to be considered and work with the management and executive levels at Barr Homes to ensure the best subcontractors are selected for the job.
- In depth review of the bid documents to ensure that the selected bidders have full understanding of the Scope of Work.
- Participate in evaluation and negotiation of the bids received.
- Make recommendation for selection of a subcontractor.
- Work with the Construction Site Manager to implement the construction management infrastructure as required for the construction project, in accordance with applicable Policies, and Work Instructions.
- Implement progress monitoring techniques for each subcontractor, in accordance with the applicable Policies and Work Instructions, or as may be required for a specific contract.
- Creation, and review of Change Orders.
- Coordinate, develop and implement recovery plans for offschedule and unanticipated eventualities.
- On construction site evaluate progress, status, and provide overall support of the Construction Management Team.
- Provide feedback regarding employee performance on a construction project team
- Recommend new processes where needed to improve quality or ontime delivery.
- Actively work with the team at Barr Homes to improve processes. Systems and routines company wide and ensure adoption
- Provide Construction Management Reports and Presentation as required by Policies and Work Instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS_
- Minimum 5 years related experience.
- License Carpenter (an asset but not mandatory)
- Cad experience an asset
- BCIN an asset
- Experience with MS Excel, Project, other industry related software
- Dependable and reliable with good communication skills
