Your opportunity:


The Department of Medicine (DOM) is one of the largest in North America, with 830 full-time faculty members, 1,000 postgraduate trainees, and 20 specialty and sub-specialty divisions located across six fully-affiliated hospitals, four community-affiliated hospitals and more than a dozen additional clinical practice sites.

We are a powerhouse of medical research, with more than $162-million in annual research funding.

This research generates new knowledge with the goal of meaningfully impacting internal medicine training and the care and health outcomes of patients and their families.


As Culture & Inclusion and Academic Affairs Officer, you will support our unwavering commitment to the principles of inclusion and diversity and you will be responsible for coordinating our department's academic senior promotions process.

Relying on your tact, diplomacy and well-developed interpersonal skills, you will be entrusted with key project planning and administrative tasks to support our faculty development and to help promote our EDI education and training initiatives in a culturally sensitive and diverse environment.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Building relationships with stakeholders around the EDI initiatives
  • Planning and overseeing the evaluation of EDI initiatives and efforts and recommending changes for improvement
  • Tracking applicant files and verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents
  • Supportingsenior level committees and working group including agendas, minute taking and coordinating logistics

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years' relevant experience coordinating and implementing projects
  • Experience implementing equity, diversity and inclusion training, education and community initiatives
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, antioppression, discrimination and harassment prevention frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience working with and supporting senior level committees
  • Experience coordinating academic appointments and senior promotions; experience applying, guidelines and procedures is essential
  • Experience managing databases and generating reports
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Publisher and survey tools
  • Attuned to current social issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good judgement, initiative, tact, discretion and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse constituencies and communities in a teamenvironment
  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential files, documents and data and respect of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to work under pressure managing multiple priorities

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Professional experience in and understanding of complex issues related to equity and diversity in a higher education or a hospital environment
  • Knowledge of University's Laserfiche document management system
