- Under the direction of the Senior or Intermediate Wastewater Operator, the Junior Operator will participate in activities that include the following:
- Perform assigned inspection, assessment activities and maintenance activities throughout the city on the wastewater system. (This is not a wastewater treatment plant or laboratorybased position.)
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
***A High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of utility experience OR;
A 1 year technical certificate in Water and Wastewater (i.e. NAIT) and no experience OR;
A 2-year Water Engineering Technology Diploma (Water and Wastewater option i.e. Okanagan College) and no experience.
A valid full Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending.
Must be able to obtain Level 1 Wastewater Operator Certification within 2 years.Previous experience related to the operating section of this position will be given preference.
Education related to wastewater systems is preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants with the ability and willingness to use software and desktop or remote devices.
- Interpersonal and adaptability skills are required for success in this position.
Pre-employment RequirementsA security clearance will be conducted.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
