    Description

    The Opportunity:

    The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a MaterielManagement Technician to fill a 12-month term position. In this position you will:

  • maintain inventory security, quality control andeffective materiel handling operations within Materiel Management Stores and inthe Materiel Management Yard;
  • administer inventory policies and procedures and;
  • provide the highest quality service to internal/externalcustomers. Maintenance of facility and equipment to facilitate efficientoperation and a safe working environment.
  • As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • One-year directly related experience including directingwarehouse and stores operations, inventory control and materiel managementactivities for a large organization.
  • Knowledge of inventory principles and procedures asapplied in a computer environment. Previous experience with JD Edwardsinventory software would be an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license.
  • Must be experienced in forklift truck operation and infront end loader operation.
  • Must be able to perform routine maintenance on variousforklift trucks and other materiel handling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform general maintenance for Storesfacilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritise. Ability to process information within tightdeadlines.
  • Valid First Aid certificate.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective workingrelationship with fellow staff and provide direction and feedback regardingperformance of duties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of J.D. Edwards Inventory module in order to create and expedite inventory orders.
  • Ability to work with independence.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed inventoryprocedures accurately.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability tocommunicate effectively verbally and in writing with the public and employees.
  • Must be in good physical condition to be able to exertmoderate to high physical effort in lifting and moving heavy objects and towork in fatiguing and/or awkward positions.
  • Must be willing to work under disagreeable working conditionssuch as; exposure to weather, dust, grease, noise, odours and chemicals.

    Remuneration:

    $28.22 to $29.88 per hour.

    Hours of Work:

    80hours biweekly, as scheduled; some evenings andweekend work may be needed when operationally required.

    Additional Information:

    The duration of this term position is anticipated to be approximately 12 months.
