is a fast-paced drilling, blasting and stabilization company based in Chilliwack with a strong emphasis on technological advancements, forward thinking and safety.

With ongoing jobs throughout BC, we are looking for an experienced Safety Advisor with a background in construction to join our dynamic team


The Safety Advisor will be responsible for maintaining all site safety protocols, procedures and documentation completion and record keeping for our local operations throughout the Fraser Valley.

In addition to this there will be a requirement to travel to remote or non-local sites at times for audits, inspections and project kick-offs.

This position will be most field/on site and involve working directly with the company's safety administrator who maintains all documentation and record keeping for Kan-Arm's safety division.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to the outline below:


  • Advise, maintain, and assist with implementation of the health and safety program including safe work practices and procedures, hazard identifications, policies, and manuals throughout Kan-Arm companies.
  • Render first aid as required and complete associated reporting.
  • Supervise and participates in regular workplace inspections, investigations and annual British Columbia Construction Safety Association (BCCSA) audits.
  • Investigate and complete appropriate records of workplace accidents, incidents, new concerns, hazards and near-misses; recommends or initiates corrective action as required.
  • Complete verbal and written warnings as well as other progressive disciplinary actions as required and directed.
  • Coordinate and present at staff Health and Safety Project/Yard Meetings and preparation including the agenda, arranging for presenters, videos, and other documentation as required.
  • Supervise and assist with preparation of documentation and conducts research for the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and participates in meetings as a member of the Committee.
  • Review safety legislation, policies and procedures; monitor legislative and regulatory changes and initiates changes in workplace practices accordingly.
  • Manage health and safety orientation for new and transferred employees and contractors.
  • WSBC program compliance including reporting following incidents and assist the Safety administrator with implementation of the Company's Return to Work program.
  • Ensuring all legislative and contractual safety requirements are met.
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating health and safety training needs for all employees.
  • Complete required in-house training for employees as required.
  • Assist Safety Administrative Manager in maintaining Health and Safety program.
  • Communicate with staff about Health and Safety concerns.

Salary:
$26.00-$34.00 per hour

Experience:


  • Safety: 5 years (required)
  • Construction: 2 years (preferred)
