    ABOUT THE

    OPPORTUNITY

    Based at the Macassa Mine, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Technician to join our Information Technology team.

    The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.

    The Automation Technician ensure the stable operation and expansion of the surface and underground Industrial Control Systems (ICS). This includes developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing PLC hardware and HMI programs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyze current systems on site, devise and deliver solutions to enhance quality of process and to prevent future problems.
  • Creation of CAD drawings to communicate project plans.
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ICS equipment and systems
  • Conduct research on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of ICS procurement and development efforts.
  • Running of electrical, instrumentation and communication cabling on surface and underground.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Perform calibrations of instruments
  • Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.
  • Ensure functionality of all supported systems.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trades: Red Seal Electrician, required. Red Seal Instrumentation, required.
  • Minimum of 4 years journeyperson field experience
  • Industrial site experience an asset
  • Valid Driver's Licenses is required
  • OR

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in: Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation, or Telecommunications
  • 6 years' experience
  • 442A Industrial or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrical License or willingness to acquire.
  • 447A Instrumentation and Control Technician License or willingness to acquire.
  • Valid Driver's Licenses is required
