Today, OSI Maritime Systems is a leading provider of integrated navigation and tactical solutions designed for naval and maritime security operations. Among those solutions, the company develops and delivers integrated bridge systems for warships, integrated dived navigation systems for submarines, and C2 systems for small craft. Presently, 23 navies totaling more than 600 warships and submarines operate using OSI systems. Due to the nature of our company, all employees must pass specific security criteria. Only candidates who are Canadian citizens, have PR status or have a citizenship from a NATO country, and who satisfy security clearance criteria, will be considered.

    The Role

    The Senior Systems Engineer is part of the engineering team that develops marine navigation and bridge systems for OSI's government and naval markets. The Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the development of the overall system requirements' design and definition for OSI's complex products. The ideal candidate will be the single point accountability for technical aspects of a project where identified as the Lead SE.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Develops integration and test concepts, and generates technical proposal material in response to Request for Quotation (RFQ) in these areas;
  • Selects, prototypes, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software for addressing component-level and system-level integration and test problems;
  • Supports the project teams in maintaining the physical condition of the OSI integration and laboratory test facilities, by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting & maintaining equipment; raising repairs and requisitions for replacement;
  • Authors/Reviews System Integration and Test Plans, Procedures and Reports;
  • Author/Review artifacts with significant integration impact, particularly Interface Control Documents, Installation Guidance Documents, and artifacts surrounding the verification of supplier specifications;
  • Authors/Reviews System Integration and test specific Systems Engineering Process, under supervision of the Systems Engineering Process Authority;
  • Contributes to internal design reviews, particularly Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, including:
  • Reviews existing and upcoming designs for potential operational vulnerabilities and problems;
  • Reviews existing and upcoming designs for potential violations of design-for-test and design-for-supportability;
  • Attends/Leads internal readiness reviews, particularly Production Readiness Reviews, Integration Readiness Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews;
  • Attends/Leads customer acceptance events, particularly Factory Acceptance, Setting to Work, Harbour Acceptance and Sea Trials Acceptance Events;
  • You Bring

  • Degree in Engineering or Physics or related field or equivalent experience; eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada an asset
  • 8-10 years engineering experience, Minimum 5 years' experience in Systems Engineering;
  • Experience in marine electronics and integrated bridge systems a significant asset;
  • Experience in defense or government domain preferably in naval ship sector a significant asset
  • Experience leading other System Engineers
  • Working experience in network design and architecture;
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a location relevant security clearance;

    Compensation The range for this role is $115,000 - $140,000 and the actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity. We also offer great benefits:
