Summary:


Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is looking for a talented and self-motivated Economist / Research Analyst to assist its Policy Development team.

Based in Toronto, you will undertake research and analysis on behalf of Canada's home, car and business insurance companies for the purpose of bringing their perspective on insurance issues to the public policy agenda at provincial and federal levels.

You will get exposure to IBC's policy and research work on insurance legislative reviews and emerging public policy issues.


You will report directly to the Economist and will work closely with a group of professionals in the Economics and Data team within Policy Development, as well as Communications and Legal teams and IBC's regional offices.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provide research and analytical support to members of IBC's policy development process by undertaking economic and statistical analysis related to current trends in P&C insurance industry.
  • Collect, organize, and present quantitative and qualitative data and information regarding P&C insurance industry and related government policy/legislation.

Qualifications:


  • Undertaking a degree in economics, applied statistics, finance or a related discipline, with sound understanding of economic theory and methods
  • Knowledge of macroeconomic indicators, including the structure and performance of the World, US and Canadian economies
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and summarize data sets
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong database management skills
