Description
Duties:
- Review, develop and implement Student Support Plans and provide pertinent support to students and teachers
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of Ontario Student Records (OSR) in accordance with the Ministry of Education guidelines
- Monitor student graduation requirements
- Verify and issue student report cards, transcripts and diplomas
- OUAC & OCAS registration and communication on behalf of the campus
- Oversee registration and administration of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
- Develop the school's fulltime annual academic course schedule, timetable and schedule exams in collaboration with the Principal
- Manage the coordination, monitoring and administration of spring, summer, fall and Winter school courses
- Regular communication with parents/guardians/marketers
- Assist with admission inquiries, presentations, open houses and interviews
- Remains readily available to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, selfunderstanding and maturity
- Maintain and continually update a directory of referral services to be utilized in crisis situations affecting students including mental health, addiction, and other support services
- Spend a minimum of 70% of his or her time in direct services to students
- Provide teaching class coverage as needed
- Provide assistance to the Guidance Program and work with the Student Support Team.
- Other tasks as required
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a guidance counselor or in a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of educational systems and resources for students with special needs.
- Ability to educate and guide students on academic and career options.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- State certification or licensure as a guidance counselor (preferred).
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations (if applicable).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
Salary:
$48,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
