Role:


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Program Management and Integration, the Program Coordinator is responsible for providing technical assistance, advice, policy and process interpretations to the Branch, Education and Advanced Education for the Modular Classroom Program (MCP) and the Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI) portfolios.


Program Coordinator provides branch management with decisive information to assist in their recommendations made to the program ministries and the Minister to support the modular classrooms and PSI budgetary requirements and program and project approvals.


The Program Coordinator is a key member of the project team and supports the delivery of MCP, PSI and capital projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time and quality to client's satisfaction within safe working conditions.

The Program Coordinator identifies resolution of contract deviations to ensure projects move ahead and on schedule. Effective communication is maintained and relationships are built with all clients and stakeholders.


The Program Coordinator is the Special Projects Engineer's (SPE) primary backup and contact with the manufacturers, regional staff of the branch, program ministries and their stakeholders for ensuring modular classrooms comply with the performance requirements outlined in the Request for Proposals.


Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Special Projects Engineer (SPE) in all aspects of the modular program delivery
  • Establishing and maintaining a network of relationships to influence decisions affecting project outcomes with internal and external stakeholders/departments
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with School Jurisdictions and postsecondary institutions
  • Assisting the Senior Manager and Special Projects Engineer in project planning
  • Participating and assisting with all stages of project design, construction and operational commissioning activities (on multiple projects)
  • Tracking on all MCP projects and Warranty management
  • Ensuring appropriate reporting, budgeting and quality control of MCP and assigned capital projects
  • Reviewing PSI capital project submissions, cashflow projections, grant agreement compliance, project progress reporting, and general oversight of capital projects and Capital Maintenance and Renewal plans (CMR) to ensure that accountability requirements are being met
  • Ensuring departmental policies, guidelines and contracts specific to both the PSI projects and Modular program are adhered to

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


  • A 2year technical diploma in engineering or related PLUS 6 years of related experience
  • Equivalencies will be considered on a oneforone basis (i.e. one year of experience for one year of education and vise versa)

Other training that will be given special consideration:

  • Training in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Training in Business Administration/Management

Experience or knowledge that will be considered and asset:

  • Experience in the construction industry, including construction and building codes, practices and processes
  • Knowledge of the Facility Construction Standards and Guidelines, building materials, components and assemblies and the design / construction process
  • Experience with agreements and associated contracts including contract law
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Access database
  • Experience with computer assisted design and project management software systems
