Description

OVERVIEW:


Reporting to the CFO, this position is responsible for managing day to day accounting transactions in multiple companies, financial statement preparation, ensuring compliance with government reporting requirements and supervising and mentoring Accounting staff.

This is also a hands on position.


HOURS OF WORK:8:30 a.m.

5:00 p.m.; 8 hours per day, 5 days per week; 1/2 hour lunch


OVERTIME:
Additional hours required as necessary


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment. Ability to work long hours in the office with sitting, standing and light lifting (< 25 pounds).


JOB KNOWLEDGE, PRODUCTIVITY, QUALITY OF WORK - Prepare monthly financial statements for companies

  • Prepare monthly consolidated statements (corporate tax reporting)
  • Provide detailed analysis of monthly results
  • Oversee monthly government compliance
  • HST/WCB
  • Prepare annual financial statements and working paper file for external auditors
  • Oversee annual compliance
  • Supervise, coach and develop accounting staff
  • Manage day to day accounting functions
  • Assist with monthly draw process
  • Improve utilization of key software programs
  • Drive process improvement with other depts.
  • Lead preparation for annual brokerage trust audit
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Assist in preparation of departmental budgets

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS/METRICS:


  • Workload is managed to ensure required deadlines are met
  • Accuracy of data provided with mínimal error
  • Leadership ability based on overall performance of Accounting staff
  • Feedback from internal and external clients on level of service provided

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Post secondary degree
  • Property Management knowledge and experience
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload, with attention to detail
  • Experience in leading and coaching high performing teams
  • Superior communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in software programs including, but not limited to, Simply Accounting, Sage 300, Property Management software i.e. Yardi, and Microsoft Office suite,
