    Summary:


    Standard General is currently seeking a General Labourer to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will perform a broad array of routine tasks and general maintenance. Must be physically fit and able to do intensive labour work. . This role will also carry out the duties of a Scale House Attendant which includes to operating scales by weighing aggregate trucks and providing customer service for truckers picking up products. This includes collecting, sorting scale tickets, and entering product sales data daily.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for checking equipment and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment;
    • Identifying hazards on site;
    • Learning general construction practices involving road construction;
    • Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and work in / implement safe work practices; and
    • Contribute to a safe work environment
    • Ensure compliance with regulations governing load restrictions and public safety.
    • Prepare and distribute production and material inventory reports.
    • Ensure prompt collection, sorting, reconciliation and distribution/filing of truck tickets.
    • Ensure efficiency of weighing trucks across the scale.
    • Receive and log credit card slips from COD sales.
    • Communicate with loader operator via two-way radio to accomplish the loading of customers in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Greet and assist visitors entering the scale building and provide them with a Site Safety orientation.
    • Other duties as required.

    Experience/Education

    • Valid Class 5 Driver's License & reliable transportation.
    • High School diploma or GDE.
    • Scale house experience is preferred.
    • Typing and data entry experience.

    Working Conditions

    • Overtime as required (evenings and weekends).
    • Ability to attend and participate in daily hazard assessments/weekly safety meetings.
    • Computer work including typing and data entry.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
    • Considerable amount of time spent outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Work collaboratively with fellow employees and contractors as required.
    • Must be willing and able to work at heights of up to 80 feet.
    • Must be physically fit, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Must wear appropriate PPE as directed by company policy and OH&S regulations.
    • Must be able to meet all pre-employment safety requirements, including Occupational Health Assessment and Drug & Alcohol testing.
    • Must be able to meet the requirements for Mask/Respirator Fit Testing.
