While we wait for cures, we also fund ground-breaking research that seeks to improve the lives of people with T1D.


JDRF is growing our team to support our ambitious plans to raise more funds than ever to accelerate research towards cures and innovative and life-changing therapies for people living with T1D.


We're currently seeking an enthusiastic Research and Mental Health Programs Assistant to plan, promote and manage JDRF's research grants and mental health programs.

As the Research and Mental Health Programs, you would be responsible for:
Assisting in the planning and promotion of mental health programs and resource development to support the type 1 diabetes community, who are often diagnosed as children

Supporting communications by sourcing, writing and/or editing content for blogs, digital resources, website copy, and social media content on mental health or T1D research topics.

For bilingual applicants, this will be in both English and French
Supporting the JDRF Research department on communications, grants planning & management and special projects.

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

And legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program).

Post-secondary education (in progress or completed) in Health Sciences, Writing, Digital Communications, English or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Bilingual in English and French will be considered a strong asset
Service-oriented
Strong written and oral communication skills to successfully interact with external stakeholders and staff within JDRF
Highly motivated self-starter who can thrive with remote supervision
Proven strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
Team-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Proficient computer skills and previous experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and database (CRM) skills are an asset.


Availability Requirements:
This position is 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, daytime hours (ie: 8:30am-4:30pm) but schedule to be confirmed. This is a temporary position.

The anticipated start date for this position is anticipated to be June 3, 2024 and will continue for 9 weeks from the starting date.


Work Location:
: We are a remote-first organization so it is expected the incumbent in this role will work remotely from home.


The Research and Mental Health Programs Assistant will be provided with a JDRF-issued laptop with virtual collaboration tools to encourage a positive work-from-home experience.


Compensation:
$16.55 per hour (or relevant provincial minimum wage, if higher)
