POSITION SPECIFICATION

POSITION TITLE:
Human Resources Generalist


JOB TYPE:
Full-Time - 1 Year contract


LOCATION OF POSITION: 100 McRae Ave., Port Colborne


TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Director, People and Culture


OVERVIEW:


Community Living Port Colborne-Wainfleet (CLPCW) is a charitable and progressive organization employing over 150 staff who deliver support to over 200 people with intellectual disabilities. Our organization has a proud 60-year history of providing developmental services and inclusive programs within the communities we serve.


The organization provides inclusive supports to adults with intellectual disabilities and to their families including: service co-ordination, formalized planning, community connection, supported independent living, supported group living, respite, and advocacy for the people we support.


PURPOSE OF POSITION:


The
Human Resource Generalist is responsible to assist in all aspects of Human Resources, including direct involvement in recruitment, selection, onboarding process, and other HR related responsibilities.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Communicate to internal stakeholders regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations.
  • Maintain Personnel Files
  • Recommend, develop and maintain human resource databases, computer software systems, and manual filing system.
  • Maintain New Hire Packages
  • Perform interviews, screens, and recruit for entry level, professional and technical job openings.
  • Coordinate and confirm completion of all required new hire training;
  • Oversee adequate orientation and training within the organization.
  • Plan, organize and attend recruitment fairs as requested.
  • Ensure newly hired employees are added to the Call-In List as directed by the Director of
Operations of QA;

  • Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations.
  • Track probationary hours of new employees and alert Program Managers when
Probationary Evaluations are due;

  • Track when Annual Performance Evaluations are due.
  • Assist in the development and collection of regular satisfaction surveys;
  • Provide assistance and guidance to employees as it relates to human resource issues;
  • Provide assistance to the Program Managers with correctional action and progressive discipline;
  • Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations).
  • Administer and record employee recognition and incentive programs;
  • Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities;
  • Assist with research and writing of Human Resource Grants ie) CSJ ESDC, SEP Grants
Ontario;

  • Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions;
  • Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned;

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • A good understanding of all programs provided by the Association
  • Exceptional computer skills with knowledge of MS Office, Adobe CS (Creative Suite),
PowerPoint, excel

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent at problem solving and multitasking in a busy environment
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:


  • Minimum Requirement
  • Human Resource Management Diploma Program, or working towards


  • One

  • Two years' experience working within an Administrative and/or HR Department
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, methods, work practices, requirements for
  • Ministry of Labour, Skills and Development
  • Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment
Standards Act, WSIB Act, other related legislation an asset

  • Knowledge/experience in coordinating an Attendance Management program, awareness of disability management programs and developing TW/accommodation plans
  • Experience in oral presentations, developing and conducting Onboarding Program to new hires
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Valid driver's license and minimum of $1 million liability insurance (use of own vehicle is required)
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Police Check
