Job Purpose:

The Production Supervisor ensures that production is carried out as effective and efficient as possible, in accordance with AkzoNobel's code of conduct, quality practices, Health & Safety Environment (HSE) and other established procedures and standards.


Total Compensation:


  • Annual base Salary of $60,000.00 to $78,000.00.
  • Afternoon and Night Shift Premiums.
  • Eligible for Overtime Pay.
  • 5% Annual Bonus based on personal and corporate performance.
  • 3 weeks' vacation + 5 personal/Sick days + company determined floater days.

Key Activities:


  • Ensures production is carried out according to production planning.
  • Ensures all site safety rules are strictly followed to that no injuries occur and looks for root cause for all incidents and near misses.
  • Ensures all process quality checks are being performed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Accounts for proper allocation of man hours.
  • Communicates targets and continuously measures and communicates status against these targets.
  • Monitors the technical state of installations and take appropriate actions to resolve issues together with Maintenance and Engineering department.
  • Resolves short term quality issues and initiates structural problem solving in collaboration with the Quality department.
  • Works with Continuous Improvement (CI) and Shift Supervisors to implement (lean) tools to improve production efficiency, reduce costs and reduce waste.
  • Coaches Team Leaders to lead daily effective team meetings and ensure daily situational problem solving.

Job Qualifications:


Experience

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within the coatings, chemical industry/paints is an asset.
  • Experience with direct reports, recruiting and conducting performance appraisals.

Computer & Math Skills

  • Computer Literate and has an ability to use web based online platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP is an Asset.
  • Math comprehension for calculating, scheduling, and delegating of batch quantities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25Kg and handle containers such as 5gallon pails bags of pigment or maneuvering drums up to 900 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments and inclement weather.
