The Opportunity


Reporting to a Strategic HR Business Partner, the HR Advisor, is the first point of contact for leaders and employees on human resource related issues.

In collaboration with the SHRBP, you will be supporting a diverse client group within a fast-paced environment.

**Role is hybrid till March 31, 2023. This can be changed to fully on-site as required by management.
The Role
Support department managers/supervisors on employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, classification and compensation, performance management, progressive discipline, labour & employee relations, and the administration of collective agreements
Initiate actions to support clients to resolve employee concerns and escalate as appropriate
Support leaders with their recruitment inquiries and business needs
Lead investigations and participate in grievances
Conduct job classifications and provide recommendations to clients on salary equity considerations
Demonstrate a solid understanding of the compensation structures for union and non-union employees
Assist with the entire grievance process at all levels
Manage the problem solving and step one grievance processes along with the preparation of briefing notes including summary documents and file preparation
Contribute to the development, implementation and promotion of SAIT HR policies, procedures and programs
Participate in and/or lead initiatives/projects to support the Employee Services team and their clients (i

e:
Collective Agreement implementation project work)
Contribute to and maintain a comprehensive file structure
Performs other related HR duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Education
Degree or post-secondary diploma in relevant area (HR, Business, Mgt Administration)

Certification or Designations
CPHR an asset

Experience
Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a HR Generalist or HR Advisor role, experience in a unionized environment is a definite asset

Technical Capabilities of the Role
Demonstrated strong communication skills verbal, written, and presentation skills
Ability to manage competing priorities independently demonstrating flexibility and agility
Intermediate level competence with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Growth mindset and a positive approach
Strong technical proficiency with various HR systems including HRIS, ATS preferably Banner, Lever, and Fresh
