About the Opportunity
DCLS is seeking a Permanent Program Coordinator / Community Support Worker at our Day Program.

The person will work 21 hours per week in the role of Program Coordinator and 14 hours per week in the role of Community Support Worker.


The hours will be:
Monday Friday, 8:30am 4:00pm (flexibility including evenings and weekends is required).


Rate of Pay:

  • Program Coordinator: $ $37.64
  • Community Support Worker: $ $28.75


The Program Coordinator plans, develops and oversees the day-to-day operations of the program including providing supervision and work direction to program staff.

Develops training and support opportunities which will enhance skills of program participants as active members of their community.

Works with a team of persons served, family members, caregivers and staff, to promote the well being of those we support by providing supported employment, volunteer, recreation and social opportunities.


  • Degree or Diploma in relevant field with three to five years direct experience in the community social service sector or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience as determined by the Society.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills including demonstrated ability to develop performance of team members through goal setting and feedback as well as the ability to mediate and problem solve.

  • Ability to use outcomebased performance measures for the individuals we support.
  • Good organizational, coordination, administration, time management and budgeting skills.
  • A good awareness of the local community and resources.
  • Understandings and experience with the Accountability Framework and Personal Life Plan process including the ability to facilitate involvement of interested parties.
  • Ability to teach and work effectively with others in both a group and one on one setting.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of the community living field, including Behavioral Guidelines and Incident Reporting Procedures.
  • Experience and training in needs assessment, program design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to inspire and influence others in achieving successful outcomes and results for the people served.
  • Empathy and support of the individuals we support and coworkers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency using computer software including MS Office, Quicken, timesheets, scheduling and PLP.
  • Flexibility, creativity and responsive to changes needs and program demands are essential.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • All employment requirements of the Society including an unrestricted Class 4 driver's license, Emergency First Aid Community Care, and FOODSAFE Level 1.

Salary:
$25.05-$37.64 per hour
