Cheshire Homes Society of BC is seeking Temporary - Full Time Rehabilitation Care Worker to support our clients with life skills rehabilitation and activities of daily living.

Please note, the successful applicant must have a Current Class 5 BC Drivers License, and a personal vehicle to use for all shifts, and will be required to drive clients to appointments in the community.

Job Summary:


In consultation with the manager, the Rehabilitation Care Worker - Key Worker provides life skills training, personal care, access to community leisure programs, companionship, housekeeping duties and support to individuals with a brain injury living in a group home or apartment program, while providing a safe, natural, clean, home-like environment.

Empower the residents to be as independent as possible and to achieve an active, productive and rewarding lifestyle.

Works side by side with the residents, when necessary, encouraging positive, creative experiences to enhance resident quality of life and teach life skills.

In all situations, the rehabilitation care worker - key worker encourages the resident to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support where necessary.

The key worker works with all the residents, with key responsibilities of specific residents, booking medical appointments, having weekly meetings with the resident(s), filling out weekly charts, writing monthly reports and weekly schedules, and contributing to the care plan of the resident(s).


Required Qualifications:


  • Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population in a group home setting
  • Current certification and documents in Emergency First Aid or equivalent & CPR level A
  • Relevant postsecondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License (International Driver's License and Class 7 N are not acceptable)
  • The use of a personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and other outings.

Schedule:

  • Sunday, Monday 1pm9pm
  • Tuesday 9am5pm
  • Friday, Saturday 8am4pm

This is a temporary position until September 7, 2024, pending return of the incumbent.
The successful applicant for this position will be required to provide the following documentation:

  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License (Class 5 learners, Class 7, and International Drivers Licenses are not acceptable)
  • An acceptable 5 year Driving History Report from ICBC
  • Proof of Covid 19 Vaccination
  • Proof of a recent Negative Tuberculosis Test
  • A Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR Level A
  • Proof of any related Diplomas, or other Education Certificates
  • The Contact Information for at least 3 employment references

Pay:
$27.92 per hour
