Purpose of the Role
The IT Systems Specialist is responsible for implementing, managing and troubleshooting the existing network and system environment, and supporting users with a variety of hardware and software according to SLA.
The role ensures that performance and availability of the IT Infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards, and that maximum productivity is achieved.
This role provides support for approximately 65 daily users, plus workstations located throughout the facility for use in the Manufacturing process.
Job Duties
- 1. Software_
Support, monitor, administer and install key software in order to ensure that performance and availability is maintained and escalate if necessary.
- Monitoring systems on regular base, as described in procedures
- Respond to help desk issues
- Troubleshoot software issues
- Deploy software packages via Microsoft System Center
- Responsible for backup admin
- 2. Hardware_
Support, monitor, administer and install key hardware in order to ensure that performance and availability is maintained and escalate if necessary.
- Install and support workstations in order to provide the necessary material to the users
- Monitor, administer, and support site server equipment
- Respond to (escalated) help desk issues
- Help with office moves regarding IT equipment
- Asset management
- Stop/start datacenter equipment
- 3. Network_
- Patching network cables
- Patching Troubleshooting and analysis of issues
- Execute administrative taks in LAN, internet and VPN
- Respond to help desk issues
- 4. Project Management_
Advise, participate in and/or lead IT (Infrastructure) projects under the responsibility of IT Management in order to contribute to optimize the efficiency of Asco's IT Infrastructure.
- 5. Knowledge Management_
Provide technical expertise and training and develop documentation to the users, the IT department or external partners in order to guarantee know-how build-up and transfer within the organization.
- Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures
- Develops documentation, including user guides
- Advising on technical issues
- 6. Unified Communication_
- Rollout of hardware and software necessary for these communication tools
- Support of the endusers
- Respond to (escalated) help desk issues
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in a related field (Information Technology, Computer Science) or equivalent through experience
- At least 3 years' of relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience in IT projects is considered an asset
- Familiarity with applicable legislation or regulatory requirements (ITAR, CCG)
- LAN, WAN and VPN knowledge
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, Active Directory, Windows Server and desktop operating systems (legacy and modern)
- Familiarity with Powershell
- Working knowledge of VMWare ESXi/VCenter
- Proficient in written and spoken English, with excellent communication skills
- Excellent data entry skills, with a proven ability to seek and analyze data
- Autonomous; is able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Able to take initiative and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Able to perform indepth analysis and complex root cause analysis
- Is able to think conceptually and outsidethebox in order to improve processes
- Is serviceoriented and able to respond to help desk issues in a timely, accurate, and friendly manner
- Ability to exercise good judgement in dealing with confidential information
