    Summary of Functions
Execute general construction laborer duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Embrace Forgen's Core Values in all aspects of the job.
  • Participate in a drugfree workplace environment with a random drug testing program.
  • Responsible for driving a safety culture which promotes Incident and Injury Free Performance.
  • Assist with excavation and/or hand excavation of contaminated soils.
  • Perform numerous manual duties, including: the operation of both manual and mechanical clearing equipment, operate power washer, direct traffic, general housekeeping, fuel equipment and other general construction tasks.
  • Read and comply with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) which accompany all chemicals present at the hazardous waste site.
  • Execute tasks from detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Use handheld mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
  • Read and comply with safety plans, rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, MSDS's, warning tags, traffic signs, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Experience/Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • The following years of experience is required:
  • Laborer 1: Five plus years of construction laborer experience.
  • Laborer 2: Two plus years of construction laborer experience.
  • Laborer 3: One plus year of construction laborer experience.
  • The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary.


  • WHMIS 201

  • General Mine Safety Awareness
  • Competent Person Safety Training
  • First Aid and CPR

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and advise project leadership on complex issues
  • Good problemsolving skills/decisionmaking skills.

Physical Demands
Sitting for extended period is common.

Hearing, vision and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

Lift, carry and push/pull at least 50 pounds without difficulty. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and Fax machines.

Good reasoning ability and decision making is necessary. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos and other documents to conduct business.

Primarily a field position. Travel to offices and projects in various location around the country as needed. The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with field project sites.

  • Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.
  • Climb in and out of equipment.
  • When on project sites or if performing some types of work activity wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.
