    Job Title: Supervisor, Pit

    Reporting directly to the Superintendent, Operations, this position is responsible for supervising pit operations for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.

    This role will lead the site-based crews of operators in ensuring all project safety regulations and health and safety procedures are implemented for execution of work at Eskay Creek. The Supervisor, Pit is responsible for the field-level direction of equipment operators and contractors.

    Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

    • Oversee a team of Skeena and contractor operators for operation of the pit/quarry for Eskay Creek on multiple rotations for both day and night shifts.
    • Instill and drive a strong, positive safety culture in all workers at Eskay Creek.
    • Comply with the requirements of the health and safety guidelines, policies, and rules for the Eskay Creek site.
    • Proactively plan mining activities, crew placement, review feedback on performance and work towards continuous improvement in all facets of production and safety.
    • Review existing operations regularly to reduce costs and improve operational standards.
    • Manage and monitor overall project performance in line with approved project budget and schedule.
    • Directly deal with safety and environmental incidents, support investigations and implement corrective actions.
    • Provide daily feedback on operational performance and field actions to improve production and safety.
    • Resolve conflicts amongst team members; provide regular coaching, feedback, and recognition.
    • Work with and communicate closely with project managers, contractors, ML/ARD personnel, surveyors, environmental personnel and engineers.
    • Inform management of any safety or environmental issues that arise on site without undue delay.
    • Promote team building at all levels, and a respectful cross-cultural work environment.
    • Operate heavy equipment as needed to supplement production and ensure targets are met.
    • Coach and train operators in safe and productive operations.
    • Manage drill and blast operations.
    • All other duties as required by the Company.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Must have a minimum of 5 years direct supervisory/management experience in heavy civil and/or mining.
    • Valid BC Mines Shift Boss Certification.
    • Must have a Valid Driver's License.
    • Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment is required.

    Skills/Experience:

    • Expert in heavy civil and mining construction.
    • Hands-on experience with drill and blast.
    • Understanding of Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage materials and controls.
    • Experience or demonstrated capability to lead multiple operators and work fronts.
    • Understanding of technical aspects of civil and mining, including reading drawings, following ML/ARD programs, and survey control.
    • Experience in operating all types of heavy equipment.
    • Ability to produce daily crew tasks, equipment line-ups and calculate basic spread productivities.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure.
    • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Working Conditions:

    This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

    The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace Airport, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

    There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
