ADGA is hiring a Telecommunications Systems Specialist to deliver technical support services to the Surveillance of Space 2 (SofS 2) Project during the Definition phase for the Ground Based Optical (GBO) sensor segment.


The Telecommunications Systems Specialist will be required to review and analyze project deliverables and provide recommendations on preparing Statement of Work (SOW) documentation, plans, and other ground-based optical sensor-related deliverables.

The Telecommunications Systems Specialist will be required to provide options and recommendations on cost-effective GBO segments for the SofS 2 Project and meet the mandatory requirements for the GBO segment.

The Telecommunications Systems Specialist must perform at least the following tasks:

  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on telecommunication system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, microwave, satellite, network, and telecom;
  • Recommend telecommunication systemlevel solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to network system equipment and specifications;
  • Liaise with stakeholder telecommunication subsystem technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability:
  • Analyze and integrate telecommunication network systems;
  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations relating to telecommunication network system components and associated documentation;
  • Provide technical expertise in design, technical, and management reviews of telecommunication network systems to monitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems;
  • Conduct telecommunication system integration testing and evaluation;
  • Analyze telecommunication system deficiencies and recommends costeffective solutions;
  • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on the suitability of industry telecommunication network system documentation;
  • Conduct technical definition studies and options analysis on telecommunication network systems Perform any other work related to this category.

Qualifications:

The Telecommunications Systems Specialist must meet the following criteria for this position:

  • Must have one of the following:
  • An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University.
OR- A non-Canadian Engineering or Science degree that must be accredited by one of the following institutions:

  • Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC);
  • World Education Services (WES); or
  • University of Toronto Comparative Education Services. OR
  • A diploma or certificate, minimum 2 years from a recognized college in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) field. OR
  • You must be Licensed as a Professional Engineer by any Professional Engineering selfregulatory bodies within the provinces of Canada;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the last 5 years as a Telecommunication System Specialist;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the last 5 years in writing Project Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, Statement of Requirements, technical specifications) for IM/IT projects valued at $5M or more;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the last 5 years with designing, installing, and maintaining equipment for telecommunications systems.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the last 5 years implementing network infrastructure projects in areas such as; data centre move/refresh, storage & database consolidation and information security projects; and
  • Must currently have, or be eligible for a PWGSC Federal Government Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
