Reporting to the Administrator, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of housekeeping maintenance for a retirement community comprised of independent living, assisted living and continuing care beds.


The responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide feedback to the General Manager on the residents satisfaction with the housekeeping;
  • Provide support to the residents, their families and the employees;
  • Coordinate all resident and common area cleaning;
  • Provide staff and residents with a safe and comfortable work environment;
  • Training housekeeping staff, as well as scheduling the housekeeping staff;
  • Supervise staff and ensuring quality service to residents;
  • Participates as a member of the work team and provides support to the other members of the team;
  • Consults with General Manager to maintain costs within budget allocations;
  • Works in collaboration with the Food Services Manager, responsible for sourcing and purchasing the best quality and value for the supplies and services required to maintain the ongoing operations in order to reduce overall expenditures while maintaining service delivery standards;
  • Ensure property shows well and that potential residents enjoy a clean, organized property;
  • Ensuring facilities meets or exceeds health and safety i.e.
WHMIS, WCB, provincial safety standards etc. and is in compliance with all public health regulations;

  • Shares information, discusses operational issues and resolves conflicts with colleagues and staff;
  • Participates on the Resident Council.
  • Completion of Grade 12 Canadian or equivalent;
  • Valid WHMIS Certification (preferred);
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred);
  • Occupation Health and Safety, Level 1 & 2 Certification (preferred);
  • Experience hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating;
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
  • Computer literacy;
  • The ability to read, write and comfortably communicate in English;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the delivery of essential support services.
