- Maintain physical plant and equipment to ensure 100% production up-time.
- This role maintains and adjusts tools for production of quality product
- Safety of all manufacturing equipment and facilities in the plant
- Possess Government issued Tool Maker certificate of qualification, indicating completion of Government apprenticeship
- Minimum 2 years jobbing shop experience in automotive
- Possess own tool and die equipment
- Good understanding of International Standards Organization (ISO)
- Knowledge of Quality Systems (QS)
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate and work with fellow employees in a professional and respectful manner
- Capable of operating all Tool Room equipment
- Capable of reading and interpreting tool & die drawings
- Excellent attendance
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts and hours
- Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
- Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader
- Support and contribute to the Quality Systems and Environmental Systems Requirements
- Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition

- Mechanically inclined and hands on attitude to repair and replace line components.
- Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
- Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
- Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
- Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
- Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
- Conducting test runs with completed tools and adjustments.
- 3D Spatial reasoning and understanding of part fit up in weld fixtures.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
- Understand basic JIG and Fixture requirements.
- Other duties required to accommodate the customer.
- Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to your supervisor as required
- Comply with Quality Assurance policies and procedures
- Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook
- Provide and/or participate in training as required
- Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Plant floor (PPE required)
- Constant communication with employees, support departments and management
- Overtime as required
- Identify and report any hazard(s) in the workplace;
- Report any accidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost-time injuries, Occupational diseases or incidents;
- Use equipment, materials, and machinery only as authorized;
- Follow procedures and wear personal protective equipment as outlined in the health and safety manual
- Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
- Perform other duties as required
