Organizational Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for managing the purchasing department, including creating and implementing required policies and procedures.

The Purchasing Coordinator oversees procurement of raw materials and supplies, ensures that budgets are kept under control, and that material requirements are processed in a timely fashion.

The Purchasing Coordinator selects and manages vendors (price, delivery, quality, support) and negotiates pricing and contracts to ensure that the interests of the company are protected


Responsibilities:

The following are the general job responsibilities for the Purchasing Coordinator

  • Coordinate all activities involved with the procurement of goods and services, including bar and plate & other raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the company:
  • Review requisitions and communicate with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Purchase products based on the direction of the company while following the companies purchasing policies. Recommend products and / or services based on experiential knowledge and research.
  • Work with company departments to identify alternate sources of supply for standard products based on lead times, cost, quality, and manufacturability
  • Work with company departments on new product development, and to identify alternate sources of supply for all long lead, critical, and single source products
  • Determine best method of procurement based on product and transportation cost & timing,
  • Negotiate payment terms and work with finance to ensure that terms are most advantageous to the company
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Run Material Variance Reports and identify trends
  • Forecast material usage and costs, report of COGS and Material Variance monthly
  • Manage all purchasing areas within JobBOSS, including rfq vendor quotes and purchase orders, items or services purchased; costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Monitor and manage purchasing transaction costs
  • Manage supplier quality issues and NC. Issues NC and follow up on appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 purchasing requirements, including vendor approval and vendor management process
  • Manage all requirement for expedited delivery of goods to users.
  • Train, supervise, and coordinate activities of employees involved with purchasing functions.
  • Responsible to coordinate and plan scheduled raw, hardware, and supplies inventory.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of employees, contractors in the general maintenance and upkeep of building, yard, snow removal, landscaping and equipment.
  • Determine material, equipment and supply requirements for maintenance related activities
  • Responsible for coordinating the inspection of all maintenance related activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma required.
  • CPP and CPIM designation preferred

Minimum Experience

  • 3 year of previous related experience required
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office required
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment required
  • Experience in a machine shop environment required
  • Experience with JobBOSS preferred

Special Training or Certificates

  • Current WHIMIS.

Working Conditions

  • Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Work involves a considerable amount of sedentary work either sitting or standing the majority of the time.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule or hours based on work demands.

Salary:
$33.00-$40.00 per hour
