    Introduction

    Manitoba Parks is seeking a qualified individual to fill the Park Works Supervisor 2 position in Clearwater Lake Provincial Park.
    Clearwater Lake Provincial Park is located approximately 16 km North of The Pas, MB. The Pas is located approximately km Northwest of Winnipeg.

    Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of this position, which may including occassional lifting of up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, and standing for long periods of time and working outdoors for extended periods under various weather conditions.
  • Must have a Class 2 Water Treatment , Class 1 Water Distribution and Wastewater Certification or be willing and able to acquire and maintain within 3 years of the employment start date. Grade 12 education or GED is a prerequisit for obtaining certification. Cost of the course is covered by Manitoba Parks.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours and/or be called out on evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as well as work in other outlying areas in the region if required.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as/when required.
  • Qualifications: Essential:
  • Experience assisting, coordinating, and/or supervising the maintenance and operations of facilities and/or grounds.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with the public and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including organizing, planning and prioritizing a complex and changing workload.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Experience applying/implementing workplace safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Experience in cost estimating and inventory control.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment (such as 1/2 ton trucks, tractors, ride on mowers, ATV's, outboard motors, snowmobiles and other small and heavy equipment).
  • Desired:
  • Experience in the treatment and distribution of potable water and collection and treatment of wastewater.
  • Duties: Working under the direction of the Park Works Supervisor (PK3), the incumbent will assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of maintenance, operations and construction activities within Clearwater Lake Provincial Park and occasionally other Provincial Parks within the Region. The incumbent's responsibilities may include operation and/or maintenance of transient and seasonal campsites, cottage sub-divisions; operation and/or maintenance of yurts, water and wastewater systems, garbage/recycling programs, buildings, roads, shops for minor mechanical repairs & carpentry projects, winter & summer recreation areas which include, x-country ski, hiking trails, beaches, day/group use areas, boat launches, and cultural sites.
