Fleet Manager - Vaughan, Canada - Telecon Inc
Description
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the business activities of the Fleet Department in their Region. Ensures the availability, serviceability and safety of the fleet and heavy equipment at all times. Oversees all Fleet programs and ensures compliance with company policies and government regulations.Your responsibilities will include:
- Be an exemplary leader in employee occupational health and safety by enforcing company policies.
- Manage assets (procurement to disposal) to ensure financial performance and make recommendations on their use and fleet replacement.
- Work with and analyse internal customer requirements for equipment and vehicles in order to optimize the fleet.
- Develop a maintenance budget and review costs on an ongoing basis.
- Manage all fleet costs in your Region.
- Track fleet utilization and maintain an accurate inventory of equipment.
- Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Negotiate the commercial agreements with local suppliers.
- Utilize technologies such as telematics to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure that fleet maintenance records are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure that the fleet operation complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Improve fleet administration standards and vehicleuse policies.
- Direct staff activities to ensure team productivity and engagement.
- Establish, maintain and communicate KPIs and establish action plans as required to achieve established objectives.
- Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned.
Minimum knowledge and skills:
- Post-Secondary education in a related field. A certificate in management is a plus.
- Several years of experience in a fleet management role.
- Excellent interpersonal, internal customer service, teambuilding skills and a team player.
- Strong influencing, management and project planning skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (English and French a plus).
- Excellent time management, organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with diagnostic software
- Experience with heavy equipment, highway trucks, mobile support fleet.
- Strong understanding of DOT and/or National Safety Code requirements.
- Computer skills use of MS Office tools.
- Computer skills use of fleet management systems and software
