What's Ninja?
Ninja is short for ninja obstacle course racing. It is similar to what you see on the show American Ninja Warrior.

If you haven't trained in ninja before, don't worry We can teach you If you bring an athletic background we have full confidence you can lead kids through their ninja training.

What Will You Be Doing?
Over May & June, our coaches bring our Mobile Obstacle Course directly to students. This is a full day program for grades Kindergarten to 9.

This role requires both the set up and take down of equipment, and delivery of a full day of high-energy programming for up to 300 students.

Our camps run in July & August for kids ages 5-12 years old.

Camp coaches are responsible for delivering fun, inclusive, engaging programming for campers that develops their skills and gets them excited to continue their development in the sport of ninja.

Roles & Responsibilities

School Programming Coach

  • Setup and takedown of our mobile obstacle course equipment in school gymnasiums or fields
  • Facilitate engaging obstacle course programming for Kindergarten to Grade 9 students
  • Provide support and encouragement to students throughout the day
  • Build awareness of Fitset Ninja and its various programs amongst students and staff
  • Ensure the safe use of our equipment by participants
  • Provide clear instruction to students
  • Ensure that students are having fun
  • Answer staff and student questions professionally
  • Get students excited about the sport of ninja
  • Demonstrate the Fitset Ninja Mission and Values

Camp Coach

  • Ensure accurate checkin and checkout of campers, including the completion of waivers
  • Create daily camp activity plans with support, supervision and training from the camp coordinator
  • Collaborate with your camp coach team on how to best organize and execute the daily and weekly camp objectives and plans
  • Provide support and encouragement to campers
  • Mediate any conflicts that may arise between campers in your group
  • Ensure that all campers in your group are engaged, regardless of fitness level or prior ninja experience
  • Report any notable concerns or incidents to the camp coordinator
  • Communicate facility rules, safety protocols and the daily agenda to campers in a large group format
  • Address parent concerns effectively and in a professional manner
  • Facilitate daily camp activities, drills and the end of camp competition in collaboration with the other camp coaches and the camp coordinator
  • Provide weekly updates to the camp coordinator about what is going well within the camps, what is challenging and what can be improved upon
  • Ensure facility cleaning checklists are completed and documented
  • Be a positive role model for campers and always lead by example
  • Ensure that campers are having fun

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children & youth
  • Athletic experience
  • Valid Standard First Aid / CPR-C required within three months of hire date
  • Completed and cleared Police Record check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed prior to start date
  • Completion of the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Certificate wit
