Primary Function

The CNC machinist-operators set up and operate a variety of CNC machine tools and related equipment to make or modify parts or products with precise dimensions, consistently meeting quality, safety, and production expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operates various CNC machining centers (including changeover, part loading, machine operation, unloading, packing, and inspection) in accordance with instructions.
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision turning operations.
Set up and program machine cutting tools.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, nonrepetitive turning machining operations.
Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or other specialized measuring instruments
Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
Complete and maintain inspection reports.
Performs tasks including offsets, cycle time reductions, and carries out or participates in various continuous improvement activities.
Performs quality checks on own work, or work of others as required for quality.
Records and/or reports all quality defects as required under Quality Plan

Qualifications

Manufacturing
Engineering Technician or Technologist Diploma
Or a combination of over four years of trade related work experience or industry courses in machining
Experience in automotive and/ or manufacturing environment
Effective interpersonal / communication skills
Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision
Must be able to perform all Manufacturing Associate duties

Qualifications

Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping and performing repetitive motion tasks.
Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
Possess working knowledge of ISO/ TS16949, ISO 14001 and Q1 compliance criteria.
Serves in the capacity of wastewater handler commensurate with completion of proper training.
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise.

Pay:
$18.77-$20.00 per hour
