Description
Primary Function
The CNC machinist-operators set up and operate a variety of CNC machine tools and related equipment to make or modify parts or products with precise dimensions, consistently meeting quality, safety, and production expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates various CNC machining centers (including changeover, part loading, machine operation, unloading, packing, and inspection) in accordance with instructions.
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision turning operations.
- Set up and program machine cutting tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, nonrepetitive turning machining operations.
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
- May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or other specialized measuring instruments
- Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
- Complete and maintain inspection reports.
- Performs tasks including offsets, cycle time reductions, and carries out or participates in various continuous improvement activities.
- Performs quality checks on own work, or work of others as required for quality.
- Records and/or reports all quality defects as required under Quality Plan
Qualifications
- Manufacturing
- Engineering Technician or Technologist Diploma
- Or a combination of over four years of trade related work experience or industry courses in machining
- Experience in automotive and/ or manufacturing environment
- Effective interpersonal / communication skills
- Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Must be able to perform all Manufacturing Associate duties
Qualifications
- Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping and performing repetitive motion tasks.
- Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Possess working knowledge of ISO/ TS16949, ISO 14001 and Q1 compliance criteria.
- Serves in the capacity of wastewater handler commensurate with completion of proper training.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise.
Pay:
$18.77-$20.00 per hour
