The Opportunity


The Data Security & Compliance Officer provides leadership in representing the Global Data Technology's legal and regulatory activities (SOX, Privacy, etc.), security reviews, policy & standards compliance and records management.

In addition the role is responsible for overall business unit education of regulatory and compliance requirements, and providing management reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Take the lead role on behalf of the Global Data Technology (GDT) in all internal/external legal, regulatory, privacy, SOX and compliance activities
  • Provide direction as domain authority to GDT team members as it relates to the business units compliance obligations
  • Conduct internal reviews for all projects and consult with key partners to ensure controls are in place to meet governance, risk and compliance process and raise any significant issues as required
  • Ensure global and segment data offices address any compliance related deficiencies that may be identified by internal or external parties
  • Establish and lead all aspects of department procedures, documentation, and training to align with records management policies
  • Establish and develop GDT's compliance & risk management practices
  • Collaborate on Global G&C and 2nd line Risk Management partners on key initiatives
  • Proactively supervise global regulatory development and changes to ensure GDT's compliance posture
  • Ensure alignment to global information and risk management standards and practice

What we are looking for

  • Degree in a IT, Cyber Security, or other related field
  • 10+ years of experience working in information security controls, information technology audit, or security risk management.
  • Deep understanding of security standard methodologies
  • Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Platforms and Technologies
  • Highly analytical with strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Good communication and relationship leadership skills with the ability to work with people at various levels throughout the organization
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict skills with the ability to challenge and aim to appropriate level of risk mitigation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective interviewing, influencing, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with multiple objectives and conflicting priorities
  • Excellent ability to lead various teams in adapting new processes to facilitate and/or fulfill legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in SOX Audit, regulatory exam (OSFI, OCC, FRB, MAS, HKMA, CSRC, etc.), privacy attestation.
  • Advance knowledge of relevant legislation (Sarbanes-Oxley, PIPEDA, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and global data residency requirement
  • Good interpersonal, leadership and relationshipbuilding skills to deal with senior levels of management, service providers and local and remote business partners
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CRISC, ITIL V3/V4 are highly desirable
