We are seeking an
Accounting Supervisor to join our team in our
Toronto office.


Supervising the Toronto & Vaughan office accounting team in a fast-paced and challenging environment, this position is based in the Toronto office.

This is a hands-on supervisory position in which you will lead, assist & closely monitor the daily activities of five accounting clerks, including the processing of trust cheques, wire transactions and deposits.

You will be required to liaise with lawyers & legal assistants and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Responsible for process improvement & streamlining of tasks.


Keys Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the daily management of the Toronto/Vaughan accounting team's workload;
  • Streamline & implement process improvements;
  • Coordinate staff vacations to ensure adequate resources are available to process daily transactions;
  • Assist accounting clerks with troubleshooting & resolving issues;
  • Responsible for ensuring that outgoing wire transfers for real estate and corporate closings are approved prior to bank deadlines;
  • Followup with approving partners when necessary;
  • Liaise with banks to resolve issues with wires, bank drafts, etc.;
  • Provide handson backup support and process cheques, deposits & wire transactions during staff absences or spikes in work volume;
  • Monitor the bank accounts online for incoming wires for closing deals and AR payments;
  • Invest/redeem client trust funds;
  • Review the condominium bank reconciliations and help clear outstanding balances;
  • Works with the accounting systems support team in the implementation & testing of new software programs & electronic processes;
  • Provides advice on internal controls & processes and makes suggestions for improvement;
  • Other duties and project requests by the Senior Accounting Manager.

What you'll bring:


  • College diploma in accounting with a minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in an accounting department;
  • Experience with accounts payable or accounts receivable roles;
  • Law firm experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of accounting. Intermediate Excel skills;
  • Working knowledge of Aderant, an asset;
  • Dedication to providing quality work for the clients;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Prioritization skills in a very busy and multifaceted environment;
  • Must be able to coach and motivate an accounting team of five.
